Spare a thought for people in Christchurch – the earthquakes are still wreaking havoc there. Good wishes to Jon L, a friend, cyclist and the fittest guy I know back home after an operation to remove a blood clot from his head.
Here are a few signs we have collected on our little walks.
What do you make of this? East makes West fertile, West makes East or let's see what we can do both ways eh? Suggestions welcome - answers next blog.
We snapped this sign on a walk in New Farm park on Sunday. Now, don't tell me civil servants don't have a sense of humour.
And, last but not least - this is a lifestyle sign.

Australia has decided it’s time we reduced our “carbon footprint”, never mind that we are a major exporter of coal and our contribution to global carbon emissions is less than the hot air being generated by the debt crises in Greece, USA, Ireland, UK (hell, just about everywhere) and the News of the World saga and, talking of which, I thought you might like these.
Obviously, someone in Wales is going to do his bit for the earth – and tried to take a horse onto the train. On the other hand, perhaps the pony had forgotten its wallet? Cynics please click here: Welsh Ponies and Trains
If you think this is weird, how about the woman from Geelong who tried to sell her kids on Ebay? Talking of kids, we have the Lee family staying with us while their house is being moved. We now have lots of pictures tacked up on the wall and regular visits from dinosaurs and pirates. I got thrashed at a simple card game last week by their 4 year old – the game involved turning up cards to make pairs. At first I thought I’d go easy on the little lad, then I found out he was a whiz at it. Oh dear….
Strange things do happen; in a previous life when I was the SDI (Sub Divisional Inspector) Airport (Hong Kong airport that is)and our vigilant Customs people arrested and detained the Village People for smuggling in hand grenades, ammunition and handcuffs – props of course. Click here (Village People) to listen to a bit of history and see our seized items on full display. Oh dear…..
